The Romania Connections team for 2009 is underway! Our first meeting was this past Tuesday, March 17, and we are so excited to begin this journey. We are thrilled that God has chosen each of us to continue the work that is being done in this amazing country. My name is Shae and I have the incredible honor and privilege of being this year’s team lead. After just completing my first overseas mission trip to Romania back in the fall, I can’t wait to go back with this wonderful group of people. The team is as follows:

Brad Long – Brad is a gifted musician and worship leader. He and I were able to experience Romania for the first time together in the fall. Brad is one of the best conversationalists I know. He listens extremely well and is very attentive to the needs of others. I’m so excited that we get to be apart of this team together as well.

Chris Genth – Chris is an incredibly talented artist. Her paintings are absolutely breathtaking. I met Chris last year through some mutual friends and we played softball together last summer. She has one of the sweetest and most gentle spirits of anyone I know. This will be Chris’ first mission trip and I’m so glad to experience it with her.

DJ Jones – DJ works for an insurance company. He has such a heart for Romania and has been there numerous times serving on mission trips. He actually just led a team there a few weeks ago to do an adventure ski camp with the college students. I feel so blessed to have DJ on our team. His knowledge and love of Romania is invaluable.

Jennifer Letner – Jennifer works for Coca-Cola Enterprises. I actually just met Jennifer for the first time at our meeting this past week. She is just wonderful and is going to be an incredible asset to the team. This, too, is Jennifer’s first mission trip.

Phil Rogers – Phil is a full time musician and talented graphic designer. Much like DJ, Phil is a Romania pro! He has also served on many mission trips to Romania and also lived there for about a month last winter. Phil also joined Brad and I on our trip this past fall. I’m so grateful that he is going with us again. He has established many great relationships with the Romanians and I’m excited about how God is going to nurture those on this trip.

On June 3, we are boarding a plane headed for Timisoara, Romania!!! Our team is heading over with the purpose of developing and investing in relationships with the younger generation. Our week will kick off with a retreat for approximately 30 college students from Vox Domini, North Point’s church partner located in Timisoara. The retreat will consist of worship, teaching, small group discussions, and lots of great conversations. After the retreat, we will spend the remainder of our time following up on the relationships made during the retreat, as well as serving the church in various ways. While there, we want to share our hearts and our stories with the Romanians in hopes that God will use our experiences to encourage them in their walk with the Lord. We long to be the hands and feet of Jesus to them.

Please pray for us as we begin to plan for our trip. Pray for sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, team unity, and that the Lord would help us build great relationships during our stay. Also, please pray for the Romanians that will be attending the retreat.

We will be updating this blog about every other week and we would love for you to journey with us!!!
